EBC Brake pads
Converted2VW
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

I run EBC redstuff and Ultimax rotors on my TT and really like the stopping power. Have run the pads for over year in both street and track and the rotors for 2 years of both street and track without issues. My CC run greenstuff and although the stopping power is great, they have way too much dust for my taste.

Pros: like the stopping power
Cons: way too much dust

NITTO Tires
pal
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

I actually also like the NT-05 for track days primarily for the price. They are about as good in the dry as the RE-11's, better than the PSS but tend to get a bit noisy on the highway at certain speeds once they start to wear down.

Pros: good in the dry
Cons: noisy when worn

VALEO Clutch kit
billymade
  • Engagement smoothness:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

A solid flywheel conversion clutch kit is popular; I have heard good things about the Valeo solution but if you want the quiet , smooth operation you are used to.... Stick with the stock setup. A friend of ours put the Valeo kit; in his 1st generation Audi TT 1.8t 5 speed and he has been happy with it.. Valeo has designed all the parts to work together and the disk, has some dampening springs built into it, in attempt to replicate a dual mass flywheel.

Pros: good things heard
Cons: less quiet, less smooth

OEM Audi Drive belt

There is limited information to be found concerning replacing the drive belt for the Roadster's rear wind deflector, or wind stop. I've put together a DIY on the procedure as a service to this community. The process is really quite simple, using basic tools and armed with this DIY, you should have it done in 20 to 30 minutes.

Pros: simple process, basic tools
Vehicle: Audi TT

VALEO Voltage regulator
teanza
  • Electrical behavior:
Rating 3.0

Took alt off and reinstalled vReg. Reinstalled, was perfect kicking to 13-14V!.... *except* low & dropping V when idling for some minutes (9.5-11.5V). Noticed while staring @V through the climate control it hit 14.3 a couple of times. Hadn't been that high since \"repair\". Was conscious of it, thank goodness, because it proceeded to overcharge up to 17V!

Pros: perfect kicking to 13-14V
Cons: low & dropping V

Castrol Engine oil
pal
  • Exhaust smoke:
Rating 3.0

I was using the OEM Castrol 5w40 and recently switched to Castrol European Formula 0w40. I found that I had the oil level drop a bit (oil burn perhaps) with the latter. For the current change I went back to OE Castrol and will see if things go back to no level drop.

Pros: no oil level drop (OEM 5w40)
Cons: oil level drop (European Formula 0w40)
Vehicle: Audi TT
