I'm in ironman gen 2 from tire discounters all 4, i got all the tires and the mount and a alignment and balancing for like 400$ bucks with the deal they run. And a free oil change. But the ironmans have done me well they did good in rain and snow and i haven't exactly been nice to them, handled potholes too.

I thought they must be crap but after looking into them, they are very well-reviewed. A traction A temp, UHP (ultra-high performance) rated. I like them. You could pay $400/tire for a premium brand but they won't be 4 times better or last 4 times longer.

For a good balance of LONG wear and good grip I've been getting Gislaved NordFrosts. Those things seriously take four winters of high mileage, mostly bare pavement commuting to wear out.

Pros: long wear, good grip, durable

Ironman and milemaker are the last two sets and they lasted about 75% of what a premium brand would.

This tire is new Iron Man. This is the second chunk missing; the other tire was replaced under warranty. It’s new, maybe 2 months old.

Cons: chunks missing, warranty replacement
