Tires BFGoodrich or Sailun
For a Corolla, mixing one odd tire isn't the end of the world, but if you've already got one Sailun on there, paying the extra $100 to make all four match is usually worth it just for consistent grip and braking especially since you're in NJ and see winter nastiness. Sailuns aren't fancy but they're totally fine for daily driving
I've stuck with my BF Goodrich Comp A/S 2+. They stick like glue in all weather and dont make any road noise.
Stock Pirellis were getting a little low after about 35,000 miles and decided to upgrade a bit. Went with KO2s 245/65/17. Love the fitment even more. They’re slightly wider than the stock 225s. Make a huge difference off-road and feels more like a truck when driving.
Ko3… 50k miles in mine and lots of tread left
Your KO2s/KO3s are excellent tires, you don't need any other tires for a 3 mile drive. They are 3PMS tires and perform well on ice among AT tires.
I drive winters in Alberta Canada, on the mountain side, mostly. I have a 23 full size and have never had better performance in winter conditions. Same with mud - we like bus camping. Mine is on Sailun A/T tires, bought it that way. I’ll definitely be seeking these tires out when it’s time to replace.
wife has Michelin Defenders on hers. I put BF Goodrich all terrain ta on mine.
I wouldn't get anything lower quality than the Sailun, especially for winter. I think Sailun and Nitto have okay options for all weather, but if you can spend a bit more for better brands (premium or the ones mentioned by other commenters) it's probably worth it up to a certain point.
I bought a set of Sailluns several years ago because they were a couple of hundred cheaper than name brand tires. I had them a week and the tire shop tried to balance them twice and they still shook like crazy. Tire shop ended up putting Kumhos on my van for free because of the trouble I had with the cheap tires. I quit buying cheap tires after that.
I absolutely hate using the KO2's. They're a long lasting tire with a high load rating, but that's because the rubber compound is hard as steel. They're outright dangerous in wet and icy conditions.
