WILWOOD Brake caliper

I purposely upgraded my NB’s braking and suspension to race-ready standards because I commute… a LOT.

I have come to realize there are others on the road who are absurdly inept behind the wheel and want every tool at my avail to avoid them. I have fully adjustable Meister-R’s on all four corners and Willwood calipers in the front. I had to put them to the test when someone did a no-look lane change into my lane with ZERO clearance and I was required to stomp on the brakes to keep from hitting them. The Wilwoods earned their keep that night.

Pros: earned their keep

WILWOOD Brake caliper

If you get a wilwood superlite caliper, the pads will be cheaper and are 20mm thick. They aren’t a top of the line caliper but should be more than enough. Also you can run endurance pads. I use raybestos st43 although those seem hard to get now. Pagid rsl29 or ebc sr11 will be endurance pads with similar or slightly less mu.

Pros: cheaper, 20mm thick

WILWOOD Brake caliper

For brakes, I went with Willwood 4 piston calipers with 10.1in rotors and a disk conversion in the rear. So, now I can stop, and have a lil less scary ride.

Pros: less scary ride

WILWOOD Brake caliper

I run these calipers and track my s13. They are great. I heard from other racing guys that the 4 pots make the pads wear in diagonal; they switched to the 6 pots ans it solved the issue. They run slick tyres, i only use UHP. I use DTC60 from hawk. I have custom made brackets and hats, with 315 x 32mm rotors.

Pros: great performance, solved wear issue
Cons: pads wear diagonally (4-pot)

OEM Porsche Brake caliper

It takes a larger master cylinder to push more fluid to four pistons. The surface area of all 4 pistons pushing on the disc is slightly larger than OE. A larger (thicker) rotor is being used and I'm not sure how to calculate that into the equation or if that's even important. Regardless if you have the oe mater cylinder using Porsche 4 pot calipers you will have to get a larger master cylinder.

Pros: larger surface area
Cons: larger master cylinder needed

OEM Porsche Brake caliper

The 944 caliper is 26x30 mm apposed to the g60. the reason I am posting this is because I purchased a set of 944 calipers on a whim, and found out they are not much more of an upgrade from g54 calipers.

Cons: not much upgrade
