Sounds about right. 6 weeks after I got my new 2019 M3SR+, kids were throwing rocks at cars. The Model 3 was too new for Safelite to even have windshields for it. Tesla charged $1,200 to replace it before my deductible.

Yep, at a service center here in AZ waiting now for my 3rd replacement on my 2023 MYLR. This time around the total cost was $1534.61, but the cost has gradually increased (like everything else), but I’ve only trusted Tesla to do the replacements for quality control purposes.
We replaced our entire front windshield a few months ago after a rock cracked it on the road. We made sure it was OEM (Pilkington) and the calibration was completed. The shop ordered the windshield from a local Toyota dealership they work with. Process was fast and quick. Took about a few days (2-3) for the windshield to come in and even after it came, they didn’t like it due to some blemishes on the window so they re-ordered another one. Installation took about > 1 hour and is 100% exactly as the original one.
We told Safelite it had to be OEM/Volvo windshield due to the vehicle being a lease. We paid our $50 glass deductible and they replaced it with OEM as we requested. They also calibrated everything in house at their shop. Pretty smooth process!
i recently had to change the windshield of my 2019 G30 id7lite. As OEM wasnt available at the moment an aftermarket windshield made by Saint Gobain was installed. The HUD is slightly distorted to a rhombus shape. Nothing major, still annoying.
I found a warp correction service function in ISTA and was able to get the test picture straight again. After saving and exiting, HUD shows nothing. Reset to factory values got the HUD working again, but, of course, warped. Tried it twice, but no success unfortunately.
I got my CX50 in January and in June it cracked. I'm assuming these windshields are on the weaker side.
Cost like 800$ for the OEM windshield for me, I’d go after market if it happened again. I don’t even know why mine cracked there was no evidence of a rock chip.
I got a chip 2 months into owning my 25 TPP.
It’s pretty common where I live to get windshield chips and cracks, but it feels like the CX-50 has a weaker windshield than the previous Mazda 3s that I’ve owned. I’m pretty disappointed in the quality of the windshield it came with.
I had a Pilkington windshield put on my 2008 Malibu to replace the OEM. It chipped extremely easy compared to the OEM. Even the tiniest little pebbles caused big chips in the glass. I replaced the OEM glass in 2021 due to a tree limb falling on it and shattering it. The Pilkington windshield now has several cracks along the entire windshield. Also took Safelite 4 attempts to find a windshield that wasn't wavy or scratched.
