Compared to the continentals my initial impression is that the Motivo 365 grab in the dry snow, packed snow, and slush much better. I had one intersection that was a little messy and in similar situations my Contis were quick to lose traction but the Motivos grabbed really well.

Pros: grab in snow, grab in slush
Cons: lose traction if pushed

My Legacy is a bit heavier and automatic, for that I went with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires for snow capable year rounders. They're absolutely amazing, not too loud in summer, very capable as a snow tire.

Pros: amazing, very capable
Cons: not too loud

MICHELIN Tires

I have an AWD SUV and I'm getting my four Michelin X-Ice's put on Friday. They have saved my butt numerous times out in rural parts of Bucks county and in Philly too.

Pros: saved my butt numerous times

Goodyear Tires

If you only occasionally go off road or encounter mud and snow, and 85% of your miles are pavement, I'd recommend one of the other two. I have run the Wranglers on my XJ, I currently have the KO2 on my WJ and my Excursion. I'd say the Wrangler handles mud slightly better than the KO2, but the KO2 handles rain, ice, and snow better on the road. Basically, the Wrangler will help you get out of a ditch a little easier, but the KO2 will help you stay out of one to begin with.

Pros: Wrangler handles mud better
Cons: KO2 handles mud worse

Truly a shame that Michelins dry rot so quick because they ride great and are pretty good mileage wise. The general rule is replace tires every 5 years, but I see Michelins start dry rotting just 3 years after production. Really sucks for older people who don’t drive as much.

Pros: great ride, good mileage
Cons: quick dry rot, short lifespan

Personally I stay away from the Firestone stuff. Hard compounds that aquaplane easily and still have worse rolling resistance than the premium tyres.

Cons: hard compounds, aquaplane easily, worse rolling resistance
