The MZ V6 won't die, unless you overheat it or timing belt failure. It is an interference engine, do the timing belt! An aisin kit is the only way to go, about $150

I got the 3sx kit with the Gates kit and a solid tensioner.
I used the gates kit on my NA with oem studs and have had no issues. Gates supplies other big names. Quality wise the parts seem to be comparable to the OEM RB kit I've used. Really it depends on your build I'd say. For my 300 dollar NA engine I couldn't justify a 800 dollar OEM kit.
Aisin kits are all OEM parts and come with almost everything you need for a complete t-belt job.
If this is the second change go with the Aisin kit. It's the best. I've put them in multiple cars. All Japanese parts and Aisin pumps are quality.
Since you're going through and doing the timing belt, I highly recommend FCP Euro's Contitech kit. I just installed this on my Jetta. For ~200 bucks, it's hard to beat. All quality parts too.
I placed an order @ FCP Euro for their Contitech timing belt kit, along with a Bosch MAF. I placed my order Monday and got it yesterday. This is my first order with FCP Euro, and I'm very impressed. Will be ordering from them again!
I use the aisin kits all the time (probably 12-15 of them).
The aisin is a great kit. never had problems on any of the honda v6 timing belts i've done.
About 20k miles ago I replaced the timing belt on my 02 lancer with a gates timing belt kit. However, after a few thousand miles the belt started to make noise. Now it’s louder and annoying so I plan to put a new kit on but would rather not use gates again.
