You have to trim a good 2 inches out of your firewall depending on where your rack is mounted. I’ve found that all racks are not perfectly the same and some require more trimming. I used a bur bit and die grinder and got it done in a few minutes. I also made my own grommet plate from Abs plastic. The z3 rack is by far the best thing I’ve done to the e30.

Pros: best upgrade, improved handling
Cons: firewall trimming required

In terms of performance, bushings have already been covered, but I haven’t see a Z3 steering rack been mentioned yet. It basically makes the steering snappier and the car feels more go-kart-y.

Pros: steering snappier, go-kart-y feel

After I replaced the steering rack in my '97 Cabrio project car, I felt that the steering was over-boosted. It wasn't \"loose\", but the steering effort was so light that it didn't feel very solid. I googled around for an afternoon looking for ways to reduce the boost from the power steering pump. After getting the bubbles out of the system by turning the steering wheel full lock left and right in the driveway a few times and topping up the reservoir, I was happy to find that the steering felt much better. Not too hard at slow speed, and not too easy at high speed.

Pros: steering felt much better
Cons: steering was over-boosted

I’m having same issue here. Mine started 20k miles and currently on 22.5k. Minor correction is always needed on freeway/highway above 35+ mph. Went to two different service center and both told me everything is fine.

One thing that tech did for me was reset steering sensor and it was fine for few days and came back.

I don’t know what outcome will I get but going to reach out to Honda of America.

Cons: sticky steering issue, minor correction needed, temporary fix
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Mileage: 22500 km

I’m having the same problem too. They told me everything was good with my car, I’m just like it doesn’t feel good so we went for a drive and he states he didn’t feel it and that’s how the car drives. I’ve been driving for 20 yrs and definitely know that is not how a car is supposed to drive!

I went to a different service center and they found the issues but now the part is in back order and they don’t know how long it’ll take. This is the worst experience I’ve had with a car. I used to drive Ford and wish I would have stayed, I never had any issues

Cons: sticky steering issue, part on back order, worst experience

I’m having the same problem too!!! I went in to one service center and was told your car is good no issues. He pretty much told me the same thing about that how the car is supposed to drive . I’m like dude I’ve been driving for 20 yrs so I think I know how a car is supposed to drive! I went to another service center and they told me they found an issue. They ordered the part but of course on back order.

Cons: sticky steering issue, part on back order, difficult diagnosis
