OEM Volkswagen Steering rack

A friend installed a 2016 Golf R dynamic steering rack into my 2017 Alltrack S. Ready to go back under the car. Went from 2.8 (linear) to just less than 2 turns (variable) lock to lock. Got a chance to drive it hard and am super happy with this!

Pros: super happy, variable ratio
Cons: larger turning radius

OEM Volkswagen Steering rack

VW is repurchasing my 2017 Alltrack after it spent 45 days at the dealer for repairs in the first 11 months I owned it. Its had a multitude of creaking/squeaking suspension parts - strut mount bearing, end links replaced. The last straw for me was a loud popping when turning the wheel which required an entire new steering rack.

Cons: loud popping when turning
Vehicle: Volkswagen

YES my car does this also, it started at about 12,500 miles. My car is a 2017 4-motion S sportwagen, mine is so bad that you can duplicate it when the car is stopped or when it is driving.

Cons: bad steering rack
Vehicle: Volkswagen Golf
Mileage: 12500 km
