I had an issue with my Bolt where the lane keep assist sensor had to be replaced, they had to replace the whole steering column for that. I’ve had no problems since

Part arrived and SQ5 finished up on My 3rd. Latest part replaced was the Steering Column, Lower. Service advisor stated they are confident the car has been fixed and also noted that in hindsight the Power Steering Rack replacement back in February was likely unnecessary.
Last week Replaced Steering Column. VW picked up parts cost as "goodwill" effort. My cost $493.50.
I had this happen over a year ago-under warranty luckily. Took 2 weeks and a VW engineer to fix. They replaced the steering column and shipped my old one back to Germany. The car would start and then immediately shut off and give me the steering lock malfunction error.
i put a MK4 column in my Caddy so it can be done that's not really the issue i have no idea though if the stalks will work out or not for you my consern would be the nuckle at the rack matching the column that was the one thing i had the biggest issue with in my swap and for the record the tilt is great on road trips tilt it all the way down and it's hella confortable way easier to relax the way it's set up now than befor
I have a CX-50. Love the car, but damn, the rattles drive me crazy. Doesn\u2019t scream quality when the steering column has a terrible rattle inside of it
Have a 2018 b9 RS5 Coupe... started falling apart around 35k miles—new steering column, multiple oil leaks that cost over $20k in repairs... thankfully under warranty.
2019 Golf R. Steering lock error required replacement steering column. Prevented car from turning on requiring dsg being manually placed in neutral and handbrake manual release on callipers. Absolutely fantastic fault that I hope isn't repeated in another couple of years!
They did the same thing to me on a steering column issue they knew about on my 2013 sonata. I was barely out of warranty and they wouldn’t budge. It was a simple fix on their part.
I took delivery of my M3 in June and also had to have the steering column replaced. Wasn’t as bad as your issue though.
