MOTUL Engine oil

I run X-Cess 5w-40, seems great. Takes a little longer to heat up than 5w-30 but I imagine you’d want the high thermal stability it offers in your location.

Pros: seems great, high thermal stability
Cons: longer to heat up

Mobil Engine oil

I use Mobil1 5w40. It is BMW LL1 certified and goes on sale in the spring at Canadian Tire. Less than 100$ for full oil change.

Pros: BMW LL1 certified

OEM Honda Engine oil

I got my 93 Accord up to 333,000 miles changing oil at 7500 miles, using the cheap synthetic blend Walmart crap, and engine failure isn't what killed the car. When I pulled the head at 250,000 miles to do a head gasket, the cylinders still had the cross hatching from the factory hone so I'm gonna say 7500 miles was plenty often enough. Changing oil more often than required is nothing but wasting money and buys you nothing in terms of reliability or longevity.

Pros: 333k miles, no engine failure
Cons: wasting money
Mileage: 7500 km

Castrol Engine oil

have used Castrol 5w-40 as VW calls for and change at 5000 mile intervals. Now at 129K, it still uses one or two quarts between changes and performs as well or better than new.

Pros: performs better than new
Cons: uses one or two quarts
Mileage: 8047 km
Part number: 5W40
