OEM Toyota Sound deadening
VariousElk5602
  • Cabin noise:
Rating 4.0

There car's been great overall, my tank average fuel economy since late spring has been outstanding ( 4.6 L/100km which works out to better than 50 mpg). wintertime fuel economy isn't as good because the engine runs longer when stone cold and more often to get up to or keep at optimal running temperature. So short trips+below freezing temps.= running more on fuel & less on battery. It depending on the road surface you drive on of course, but it seems to me that too much road noise gets transmitted through the body. They could have spent a little bit more on some sound deadening, perhaps.

Pros: great overall, outstanding fuel economy
Cons: too much road noise

OEM Toyota Drive shaft

4th gen is notorious for drive shaft clunk, needs greasing about every other oil change. Grease completely makes it go away, for me at least.

Pros: grease makes clunk go away
Cons: drive shaft clunk

OEM Toyota Alternator

All I've done/had done for maintenance is a few oil changes, replaced the alternator and serpentine belt, had rear brake pads and rotors replaced, replaced the battery, new tires, and new headlight bulbs. Nothing too complicated or expensive

Pros: easy maintenance, inexpensive

OEM Toyota CVT transmission

  • Smoothness:
Rating 4.0

And honestly the eCVT that Toyota uses, with the rear motor unit for AWD (no actual driveshaft) seems to be working great. The steady RPM on acceleration is a little weird at first, but you get used to it.

Pros: working great
Cons: steady RPM weird at first
