My 18xt used 0 weight oil, then the timing chain started getting noisy, the dealer changed to 530 and no more noise. That was about 60k miles ago. Still going no issues so far
Things that I've done on it myself, valve cover gasket.
Switching to single beam wipers helped from the crappy oem segmented frame ones.
I do the minor maintenance myself: oil/filter, air filters, wiper blades.
I save enough $$ on the DIY portion, so I don't mind using my dealer for the other stuff: front & rear dif fluids, CVT fluid, brake fluid, brake pads, etc.
2018 Crosstrek with 250k miles checking in. It seems like this past year every sensors in the thing has gone out, the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. It's winter so I'm only replacing the critical ones affecting shift points and throttle.
Sounds a bit lock rod knock? At the same time from my experience when the water pumps start going bad on Subarus it sounds 1:1 like rod knock. Please get your timing belt and water pump looked at.
I now dread doing spark plugs. Something that’s super easy to do on most 4 cyl cars is a PITA doing on my ej25.
My in laws cvt transmission went out at 45,000 miles and they wanted $10k to replace. Thankfully they ended up replacing the cvt under extended warranty.
The fucking console rattles like a mother fucker. The stock tires are pieces of shit. The clutch pedal will make noise when it is cold because they used shitty spot welds on the pedal assembly. The ac compressor will probably fail within 50k miles.
