OEM Subaru Catalytic converter

If you checked the plugs and coils it's likely to be a clogged catalytic converter. The age of the car is right for this. This happened to me on my 2001 a few years back.

Cons: clogged catalytic converter
Vehicle: Subaru

OEM Subaru Engine oil

I had a 2017 Forester with 175k miles on it and only used factor oil and never had any issues. I did not do any off road stuff and it was only a premium model, not a wilderness model. I don’t think it matters as long as you change it regularly.

Pros: no issues, engine longevity
Mileage: 175000 km

OEM Subaru Mirrors

In my state I see people driving around with cosmetic mirrors taped to their car all the way to not even having a mirror all together.

The mirror is still there, you’re fine.

Pros: mirror is still there
Vehicle: Subaru Legacy

OEM Subaru Brake pads

2014 impreza limited hatch — only 90K, routine maintenance (oil changes and replacing as needed brake pads, fluids, brake lights, tires, wipers).

aside from some repairs to back wheels (2 years ago) and a clog in my exhaust system that had to be cleared (7 years ago), this baby has been rollin along fine.

Pros: rollin along fine
Mileage: 90000 km

OEM Subaru Battery

My 7.5 yr old Forester is still on the original battery. I did need a jump a couple weeks ago after sitting with the lights on for a half hour, which was weird, but it's been fine since

Pros: long lifespan
Cons: needed jump once

OEM Subaru Head gasket
AN2Felllla
  • Overheating:
Rating 2.5

Mainly the EJ25 Outbacks have problems due to the failure of their head gaskets being pretty much inevitable. Also 2012+ Outbacks have a bad rep for their CVTs, not because they're bad, but because Subaru America stated that the CVT fluid is a lifetime fluid when every other country recommends replacing it every 50,000 kms, causing US models to blow up their transmission after just over 100,000 miles. This isn't a problem if you service your CVT regularly.

Pros: AWD system is best
Cons: head gasket failure, CVT issues
Vehicle: Subaru Outback
Mileage: 100000 km
