STOPTECH Brake caliper
  • Uneven wear:
Rating 4.0

Clubsport brakes are much stiffer in feel with an immediate grab in comparison to the bone stock GTI. Though I'll stand by the stoptech ST40's that I ran on my old Mk7 as being a better feeling and performing setup tbh.

Pros: stiffer feel, immediate grab
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Those things are not better than even the stock 1 piston sliders. They’re short travel and not fully compatible with our master cylinder. You can add relays to try to get them to work right, but they’re ultimately more show than go.

Cons: short travel, not compatible
Vehicle: Volkswagen

STOPTECH Brake caliper

I have the Stoptech setup. One major thing I'll warn you about is wheel fitment. Finding rims that clear the calipers is a HUGE pain in the ass. It's really tough.

Cons: difficult wheel fitment

STOPTECH Brake caliper

Stoptech all the way. European car magazine has done a couple reviews on these and both have been positive. They are tuned for your car's master cyinder and ABS by altering the piston diameter to meet the needs of your car. Everything is built in house so they have total control of what is going on there and are really quite a work of art. If you've seen a cutaway of the vanes on that rotor you know what I am talking about. They are also two-piece caliper rather than a monbloc which makes them stronger. It's really all in the details with a stoptech kit.

Pros: positive reviews, tuned for car

STOPTECH Brake caliper

If you are doing some serious track use then I would go with Stoptechs. I like the design of the caliper better even though they weigh more, larger pad area, and I believe thicker rotors.

Pros: larger pad area, thicker rotors
Cons: weigh more
