Plugs I use Platinum plugs on my tuned 1.8t .I tried using bk7re's 3 or 4 times and each time the car ran like crap. I gapped at 028,tried 030 .The engine made less power up top every time by a difference of 2/3 psi.

Pros: hold boost exceptionally well
Cons: engine made less power

It was the plugs all along. No wonder though, since they were extremely overdue for replacement. Checked the gap on every one i pulled out. They ranged from .037 to .048... so there must have been some severe blowby, hence the misfiring under boost.

Pros: fixed misfiring under boost
Cons: extremely overdue replacement

Just reporting in after some usage... the NGK 4644 aka BKR7E seems to foul easier than the Autolite plugs I ran previously.

Cons: fouls easier
Part number: 4644

I also suggest NGK spark plugs. And not necessarily the high-end Iridium ones. The 'lower' end ones are just as good.

Pros: just as good

I personally run 0.035" on BKR7E-IX plugs and the red 06E coils. Significant improvements to acceleration and responsiveness after the ECU adapted

Pros: improvements to acceleration, responsiveness

When I got the car back from the shop I installed a wide-band O2 and changed the plugs to NGKBKR7e's (Copper) gapped to 0.028. I also re-greased the DV, since last time I had used generic grease general purpose grease, with high temp grease. The car feels a lot better now, and timing pull ranges from 3-8 under WOT. The AFR gauge shows anywhere from 12.5-13.0 under WOT, and bounces between 14.3-15.2 or so while cruising. I also believe that I hear the DV a bit more (have a cone intake), so maybe it was sticking?

Pros: car feels better
Cons: timing pull still present
Vehicle: Audi TT
