I am only running stock and used stainless steel, also have had the DNJ pistons in mine now for about 2 years and they appear to hanging in there at least on stock power. I did switch the rings to Total Seal rings and not DNJ, don't know if that made a difference or not but it felt like a better choice.

They are junk. 2.4 GMC 20 over oil ring grooves to wide rings slip off expander
BEWARE ! I got 2008 hyundai 2.7 Santa Fe , 2 year ago I buy a full DNJ timing belt set after 22,300 miles the timing belt broke up. Now I have to paid over 5k to fix my SUV, next time I gonna buy the original timing belt set from the Hyundai.
Not very good. They tend to be rebuilder quality, at best. The often have a reduced compression height and are nothing really to write home about.
