AMSOIL CVT fluid

In the end, I did some research and found that it takes 4 qts to do a spill and fill, which is THE preferred maintenance procedure, at 60k miles/100k Kms, from Subaru. I then contacted AMSOIL directly, who said not only is their CVT fluid compatible with all CVTs, from 1 to 3 and HT, it was also Warranty Secured, both Manufacturer and Aftermarket. So, I did it myself. Took about an hour and used 4 quarts. I bought a $10 transfer pump. The warm-up/top-up procedure is easy peasy. And if I can do it, anyone can!

Pros: compatible with CVTs, warranty secured, easy to install
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

BEN-SON Windshield

  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 5.0

Literally just got this today after getting my windshield replaced two days ago because of a chip in my 2021 forester. The insurance covered it with $0 deductible, and the local shop used a Chinese laminated benson windshield, but whatever. It was free

Pros: insurance covered it, free
Cons: Chinese laminated windshield
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

MICHELIN Tires

Rating 3.0

I have a '21 Forester Limited. I had no issues with the tires until I went in for an oil change at 17,300 miles and was told I needed new ones. They were all worn to 3/32." I thought they had performed pretty well, but they certainly didn't hold up.

Pros: performed pretty well
Cons: didn't hold up
Mileage: 27842 km

OEM Subaru Headlights

Rating 2.0

Just leased a 2025 Forester. The headlights are wonky for sure! It's just low enough where I can't see as much of the road as I need to to avoid objects at night. I know the headlights are angled lower on the left to not blind folks, I just find it very scary to drive and not be able to see.

Cons: headlights are wonky, scary
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

Falken Tires

  • Grip:
Rating 1.0

We had heavy snow and ice this week where I live, and I am thoroughly unimpressed with the stock Falken Ziex tires on our 2024 Forester. Terrible traction in the snow. They are also wearing way faster than any other tires I've owned.

Pros: null
Cons: terrible traction, wearing fast
