Denso Wiper blades
AKADriver
  • Wipe quality:
Rating 4.5

The brand I prefer seems to have gone out of production (Denso Designer aero frame style). These were OEM on my 2009 Forester and I used them on everything I own after discovering that. Getting harder to find complete pairs for my cars, I only have a few left that I've hoarded.

Quality is worth it, I replace wipers when they no longer perform up to expectations rather than on a set schedule.

Pros: quality is worth it
Cons: hard to find

R1 Concepts Brake discs
Lentils28
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

I have a drilled and slotted set with performance pads from R1 Concepts (was going ti replace pads but 1 rotor was bad). I have had them for about 4 months now and only complaint us the squeeky pads. I have a larger vehicle (Forester) so i feel the fade a bit sooner than most, but i feel these rotors do a good job of preventing that. I dont ride the brakea that hard but its still noticable.

Pros: prevents brake fade
Cons: squeeky pads
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

OEM Subaru Engine oil

Should be fine, but CHECK THE OIL FREQUENTLY. This series of engines is notorious for oil consumption problems, which may not appear at all when doing short trips, but suddenly it's drinking 1qt or more per 1000 miles on the highway.

Pros: check oil frequently
Cons: oil consumption problems
Mileage: 1000 km

OEM Subaru Tires

I had one of these. I leased a 2017 XT Premium for 3 years. I had zero issues with it over the ~ 30K miles. It was the first new car I'd owned that never had any warranty claims and never saw the inside of a dealer until the day I returned it. I changed oil and filters and swapped out the crappy OEM rubber for decent tires

Pros: no warranty issues
Mileage: 48280 km

Pirelli Tires
ATX_native
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 5.0

I am overly happy with the Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus 3 we got for our Forester.

Its a completely different car, especially when we upsized to 225/60-18.

Pros: completely different car

OEM Subaru Headlights

Our '25 Forester had the lights aimed incredibly low. I followed the directions I've used in the past for aiming headlights:

* 25ft away from a wall on a flat surface

* Measure distance from ground to sideview mirrors

* Mark on a wall 1-2" less than that height

* Using a Philips screwdriver, adjust headlights so the beam on the driver side light comes just below that level

However, I did this and the lights were way too high - illuminating oncoming drivers. I had to adjust them lower by about 2-3" at 25'.

Pros: directions for aiming
Cons: lights aimed too low
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

OEM Subaru Headlights
Dawg_in_NWA
  • Brightness:
Rating 1.0

I have a 2024 Forester, and I absolutely hate the headlights, to the point, I am not sure I would purchase a Subaru again. You have to use the brights in order to get the same field of vision as I got previously on my Camry.

Cons: hate the headlights

OEM Subaru Headlights

I bought a 3-year old (2021) Forester in January, and I have noticed the headlights suck, too. On a dark road, I need to use the brights to illuminate any kind of meaningful field of visibility, and even then it’s not great.

Cons: headlights suck
Vehicle: Subaru Forester

KYB Strut mount
raffi30
  • Clunks:
Rating 1.0

I would stay away from their strut mounts with the bearings. Mine were garbage and clunking over bumps right out of the box. I had to replace them with Monroes since I didn't feel like renting the spring compressor to deal with it

Cons: garbage, clunking over bumps
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
