Pilkington Windshield
earlisthecat
  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 5.0

Last glass we replaced with a Pilkington. It’s lasted twice as long (so far) as all the other windshields combined. It’s had a couple of similar ‘minor’ stone chips as what did in the OEMs. It’s still going strong.

Pros: lasted twice as long, still going strong

Continental Tires

I’m on my second set of Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires on my 2014 Forester. Amazing in the snow, heavy rain, and the rocky dirt roads of Death Valley. Probably the best all around tire I’ve ever purchased.

Pros: amazing in snow, heavy rain

OEM Subaru Battery

I only just replaced the Subaru branded battery a couple weeks ago with another Subaru battery. It comes with a 30 month warranty and supposed to have a 55 lifespan.

Pros: 30 month warranty
Vehicle: Subaru

Duralast Battery
ZaphodG
  • Cranking:
Rating 5.0

I replaced mine in my driveway with a same size AutoZone Duralast Gold. With a coupon, I was out the door for less than $200. The car wintered outdoors at a Vermont ski resort and always started.

Pros: always started, affordable price

MICHELIN Tires

Bought a set of Bridgestone RE-71Rs. Fifth car (current STI): First set (besides factory tires) was Michelin Pilot Super Sports - not bad, but I missed the outright grip of the Bridgestone's- wore them down to the cords after 25k miles and a couple of track days.

Pros: outright grip
Cons: wore down to cords
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 25000 km

Pilkington Windshield
JoeGoats
  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 2.0

Just search windshield in this sub and you'll find many like minded souls. The OEM windows are paper thin and prone to chips, cracks, and tiny chips that turn into 3 foot cracks.

Cons: paper thin, prone to cracks

OEM Subaru Water pump
BCRich82
  • Leaks:
  • Overheating:
Rating 1.0

I was a Subaru Dealer trained engine specialist for many years, DO NOT under any circumstances use a non Subaru water pump. All of the aftermarket ones are complete shit, I have lost count of how many aftermarket water pumps I have had to replace because they have all failed within 20k miles.

Cons: aftermarket pumps fail quickly
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 20000 km
