POWER STOP Brake discs
liverpoolFCnut
  • Braking:
  • Vibration:
Rating 4.0

Switch to powerstops and you are set for the next 50k miles (depending on your driving style/conditions). My OEM rotors warped around 16k miles, dealer resurfaced and it warped again at 20 something. Replaced with another new set of OEM rotors which too warped before my car hit 30k miles. I followed other lads on mazda6club forum and switched to Powerstops and it is still going strong at 62k miles.

Pros: going strong at 62k miles
Cons: OEM rotors warp quickly
Vehicle: Mazda 6
Mileage: 62000 km

Akebono Brake pads
hgreeniii
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

Akebono have been better for my 6 than the OEM. OEM pads are not all the same. They may meet the same minimum spec but not all are top tier. For example the rear brake pads on my 6 OEM were great and were made by TRW. the last set of OEM rear pads were from another manufacturer and are dusty and wear fast. My recent front OEM pads are the same. I'm going back to Akebono pads when the weather is better

Pros: better than OEM
Cons: dusty, wear fast

Brembo Brake discs
sugondeez
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.5

I recently installed Brembo rotors and pads on my ‘14 Mazda 6. Under $400 on tire rack. The performance is great so far; they bite harder than OEM and are quiet with low dust.

Pros: bite harder than OEM, quiet
Cons: low dust

Achilles Tires
turbo2888
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 3.5

I run the ATR sport on my 2018 6 GT, only issue i had was it made the car feel like it had a lot of body roll, I think the ATR tires have more grip then the stock suv Falcons that came stock.

Pros: more grip
Cons: lot of body roll

OEM Mazda Brake pads

Mazda. Brakes. Suck. I’ve owned 2 6s. A 2018 and a 2021. Both needed brakes at around 20k. DO NOT REPLACE WITH MAZDA OE BRAKES. Or you’ll just be in the same boat again. Buy a set of PowerStops and be done with it.

Cons: brakes wear quickly
Vehicle: Mazda 6
Mileage: 20000 km
