STOPTECH Brake pads
cournot
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

So far the above combination is great, brakes are stronger than stock, take longer to fade, and don't make any noise. But the dust...it's horrible. I'm finding myself cleaning my wheels 1-2 times a week now :what:.

Pros: stronger than stock, longer fade
Cons: horrible dust
Vehicle: Honda Civic

WAGNER Brake pads
molrobocop
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

When I did my Civic, I went with Wagner Thermoquiets. But I'm not aggressive on the brakes. They're silent, and clean. They'll still cause ABS to engage if I hit the pedal hard.

Pros: silent, clean
Cons: ABS engagement under hard braking
Vehicle: Honda Civic

GENERAL TIRE Tires
Metallitubby

  • Ride comfort:
Rating 2.5

Another vote for the Generals. My CRV seems to ride like **** and handle like dog-**** with them on, but I love the abuse.

Pros: handles abuse well
Cons: poor ride, poor handling
Vehicle: Honda

OEM Honda Timing belt
phaqew
  • Visible wear:
Rating 1.0

change it. do it at the dealer, and don't use an aftermarket belt. I changed mine at the millage i was supposed to(70,000, i think), at a local garage, and he 'saved' me $10 by using a non-honda manufactred belt. fast forward another 30,000 miles and the belt broke. caused $3000 in damages to my top end, (bent valves, etc,) and was not covered by warranty (car, belt or manufacturer). it totalled my car.

Cons: belt broke, caused damages
Vehicle: Honda
Mileage: 70000 km

Nexen Tires

I had Nexen N3000's on the S2000 when I purchased it. While I know they aren't N5000's, they seemed to have an odd reputation on message boards. The 3000's were deemed fairly acceptable for the first half of their tread life, but then horrid at the second half. They went from having a bit of grip to driving on frozen hockey pucks. Mine were already fairly worn on the S2000, and they were SCARY. They were promptly replaced with appropriate rubber for the car.

Pros: acceptable first half of life
Cons: horrid second half, scary grip
Vehicle: Honda S2000
