mixing ANYTHING with dexcool is a bad idea. Sister has a Chevy Malibu, takes dexcool, was low, boyfriend put in universal, an her car over heated. Told her to take to closest shop and have them flush and fill with dexcool. Hasn’t had any problems since. Do not recommend putting anything other than dexcool into a dexcool system

Pros: no problems with Dexcool
Cons: overheating when mixed
Vehicle: Chevrolet Malibu

OEM Chevrolet Engine oil

My wife drove a 2017 volt for four years and 60k miles and loved every moment of it. Regularly got 61 miles to a charge, had one oil change in four years as the total maintenance cost, and could still drive across the country if we wants with no charging needs.

Pros: loved every moment
Cons: one oil change
Vehicle: Chevrolet Volt
Mileage: 96560 km

OEM Chevrolet Battery
ircsmith
  • Indicator:
Rating 4.0

Have a Chevy Volt. The battery is only good for 22-40 miles depending on outside temp. It gets plugged in at night and costs $14-18 a month. For the past 3 years we have used less then 25 gallons of gas.

Not many cons. The car is much better on electricity than when the gas motor has to kick in. Much quieter and has a bit more throttle response so I don't like it when the battery runs out.

Pros: Much quieter, better throttle response
Cons: battery runs out

Continental Tires

Rating 5.0

I know it’s controversial to put all seasons on a Corvette, but my god are they fantastic. Unless you drive exclusively on the track, you’ll love these. I live in a state where a sunshine and 80+ degree days are limited, and potholes are plentiful. I swapped out the OEM run flats with these and it made a world of difference.

Pros: fantastic, world of difference

Rancho Shock absorbers

  • Bottoming:
Rating 1.0

Man I don’t know how Rancho started being marketed as a desirable shock. They used to be cheap autozone replacement stuff. I had a ZR-2 Blazer years ago that came with factory Bilsteins, when they were worn out and shot I replaced them with Ranchos… I should have just left the blown Bilsteins on lol.

Cons: cheap autozone replacement
Vehicle: Chevrolet Blazer

OEM Chevrolet Water pump

Having the same exact issue with the same exact SBC 350 '76 corvette. I just replaced the water pump, so the pump is brand new, and new gaskets. Every time it revs to 6000 rpm and the engine gets up to temperature the water pump gasket blows and begins to leak from the bottom and spills coolant everywhere.

Pros: pump is brand new
Cons: gasket blows, coolant leak
Vehicle: Chevrolet Corvette
