Tires BRIDGESTONE or DUNLOP

17" VW/Ronal Sima with Dunlop Wintersport 4D. Really happy with this combo.

I use Blizzak WS80's and a couple 50lb sandbags in the trunk. No issues as long as there isn't a shit ton of snow. I still avoid all steep hills.

I have blizzaks and Mrs. Krieg had ice guards on her last car. Both are excellent snow tires, and I never noticed a difference in the wet.

I'm a big fan of the Bridgestone Blizzak tires (in your case, WS80).

As a counterpoint to the Michelin PSS, I have Bridgestone S04 Pole Position tires and have been very happy with them. Dry and wet performance has been excellent.

They're sort of expensive I think, but the Bridgestone Battlax S20 is really nice in the wet. I had Pirelli Diablo Corsas and moved away from them specifically because of their poor performance in the wet.

Saab with Potenza RE970AS Pole Position tires. Best 3 season tire IMO.

2015 MK7-R purchased June 2015, now has 6900 miles with Bridgestone (130 Treadwear-RIDICULOUS), rotated at 6500 at Discount tire, 7/32 in front and 8/32 in the rear. Mostly city driving, only 4.5 miles to work.

That model Bridgestone tires is terrible in winter. Traction goes away below 45°. Wet weather is a challenge to say the least. I took them off and put on continental DWS tires at 10,000 miles.

Mine came with the bridge stones. They are a little noisier than I would like and they certainly don't offer the traction I want.
