i have the bilstein b8 on my other car which is lowered sport dampers they are super comfortable and sporty

I went with Blistens 6112s and 5161s and have been pleased. A nice compromise between price and ride quality.

Pros: nice ride quality

Cons: compromise on price

My Bilstein shocks have 300k km

On them and no leaking or anything, just a torn dust guard

Pros: no leaking, long lasting

Cons: torn dust guard

I put on some Bilstein shocks and they were still good 15 years later when I swapped them out with new ones after redoing the entire suspension to add some lift.

Pros: long lasting, good for 15 years

I chose the sport suspension version of the B4s. The B4s give a very controlled ride without the stiffness of a B6 or B8, even with the lowered sport suspension versions and the Pro-kits.

Pros: very controlled ride

Cons: lowered suspension

The Bilstein 6112 shocks I installed up front were slightly stiff, which I attribute to their valving.

Cons: slightly stiff valving

My E36 always sat higher after starting to use Bilstein shocks. Did NOT replace springs. B4 first and B6 after. Definitely over-damped, car almost disregards the springs and runs on shocks alone.

Cons: car sat higher, over-damped ride
