Engine oil Castrol or MOTUL

Castrol Engine oil

Anyway, my W8 has been fed only Castrol LL 2 & 3 (SLX, Professional Powerflow) & Shell Ultra Helix VX (Longlife 3 oil made for VW) . I don't know if that's the magic that has made my cam tensioners last this far, but I'm going to heed that mechanics advice in the future too.

Pros: cam tensioners last long

MOTUL Engine oil

it was really good. no oil consumption problems and car just felt a niice smooth power delivery the whole time i had the motul running. I also had minimal wear on my cam follower which is a big prob for people with upgraded fuel pumps on fsi's, although i have no idea if this could be related.

Pros: nice smooth power delivery
Cons: no oil consumption problems
Vehicle: Audi A3

MOTUL Engine oil

Yea I've used 5w40 syntec as well but seems like the dealerships in Canada are starting to use 5w30 and that I know for certain burns faster on my car. I'm not sure why the dealerships in Canada swapped over to 5w30 now but I always get Motul now. Although a bit more pricey, i intend to keep the car a long time

Pros: Motul: worth price, good for car
Cons: Syntec 5w30: burns faster

Me neither, I use the 5W-40 Syntec also and although I have a 2.5, from the 10k - 20k change it only used about .8 qts. If it's 502.00 it's a quality oil, doesn't really matter what it says on the bottle.

Pros: Syntec 5W-40: quality oil, low consumption
Mileage: 10000 km

i've found that syntec 5w40 lasts, i've used otehr brands on my mkIV 2.slow and had oil consumption issues in the summer, but when i used 5w40 syntec i had no issues with burning oil, and have yet to see any with my 2.0T which is at 17000 km now, so its still kinda early to tell anything

Pros: Syntec 5w40: lasts, no burning
Mileage: 17000 km

MOTUL Engine oil

I also have a 2006 2.0T Jetta and I have similar oil consumption rates. Try changing the brand of oil you use. I know the dealerships use Castrol Syntec. To me, it seems as if they're not as "durable". I swapped over to ELF for a while and that helped, and now I'm using Motul and this seems to be the best. I think my car burns around 1-2 qts every 5000kms.

Pros: Motul: best, helped consumption
Cons: Castrol Syntec: not durable
Mileage: 5000 km
