Engine oil Castrol or MOTUL

Castrol Engine oil

I run either 0w40 castrol full syn or 0w40 pentosyn in all my cars. After changing oil every 1000miles for 5oil changes and ever 3k after that my old corolla looked like a brand new engine inside with 125k on it when I pulled the valve cover to do a t-belt.

Pros: engine looked brand new
Mileage: 201150 km

MOTUL Engine oil

The 75K miles was tested on Motul 300V on stock internals equipped with a GT28R at the time. Prior to that I was using Motul 8100 5W-40 which I also liked

Pros: liked Motul 8100 5W-40

Castrol Engine oil

For some odd reason it seems that mobil 1 iron numbers are a bit higher in the 1.8T. I switched to Castrol Syntec 0w-30 and my iron numbers went down.

Pros: iron numbers went down
Cons: fuel dilution went up

Castrol Engine oil

From what I can find, Castrol makes a 0W30 longlife oil which can be used in VW engines which have sensors which support the longlife service regime. According to this regime, oil change intervals can range from 9,000 miles or 12 months to as long as 30,000 miles or 24 months - IF the sensors will allow such an extended interval.

Pros: long oil change intervals
Vehicle: Volkswagen
