Brake discs Zimmermann or POWER STOP

Zimmermann Brake discs

I replaced my OEM BMW blank rotors that were done and warped for the blank Zimmermann ones a week ago, but I got them from FCP euro which they had them at a lower price. I have a slow grocery getter 328i so no need to get anything more. I also used Akebono ceramic brake pads.

Pros: lower price, good for daily driving
Vehicle: BMW

Zimmermann Brake discs

Zimmerman rotors with ferrodo ds2500's work for me. Also removed the dust shield and added rs3 ducts. Lately been getting about 2 weekends or ~16 sessions before they get low, but they're solid and wear predictably. Plus fcpeuro sells them.

Pros: solid performance, predictable wear
Cons: short lifespan

What I've discovered is that the design of the OEM rotors are BMW 2-piece brake rotors with iron friction ring with a lightweight aluminum rotor hat. This design , to me, has flaws and is prone to excessive heat and warps rather quickly. I've had the same problem repeatedly. I switched to Zimmerman one-piece cast iron rotors with OEM pads, and I've driven very hard, and it hasn't happened ever again.

Pros: drove very hard, hasn't happened
Cons: prone to excessive heat

POWER STOP Brake discs

I used to have both front rotors smoking after uphill runs lmao. I ended up getting some Powerstop slotted/drilled rotors and pads and then I overheated my brake fluid my first downhill run with them. Since I changed that its been braking fine and better than than stock imo

Pros: better than stock
Cons: overheated brake fluid
Vehicle: Honda Fit
