May 2025: Oil service, new tires, front brake rotors & pads
Damn, they must be for a truck or something, I literally just yesterday got my Powerstops rotors shipped to me from RA (bought a few days ago) with a couple other small things in the same order/box and it was only $20 for the shipping, that’s crazy
Use either BMWPartsDirect or GetBMWParts website, buy genuine BMW parts and find a good mechanic in your area (maybe even mobile mechanic who would come to you and replace rotors and pads). In LA I paid $180 for the labor to replace front rotors and pads on my X5, for example.
The brake disc was really cool
I’m buying a set of Powerstop coated rotors and Akebono pads for my accord to put on in the spring.
One of those checks will be a minimum thickness on discs and pads. Given you've only done just over 1000 miles in the vehicle since purchase, it would seem to me that the minimum thickness on the discs when the vehicle was sold to you was at or below that required as part of the pre-sale check.
Just got the front brake upgrade. Calipers, Powerstop Z23 rotors and pads. Runs smooth now.
Buying the brake disc wasn‘t even the expensive part. Driving it to the point where it fits the wall, that was.
For example on my 4 series if you took it to a dealership to have the front disks and pads done you are looking at over £900.
Those BMW CSL drilled rotors suck. They came
stock on my e85 M & they cause horrible pedal pulsation. I did a very deep dive on this after multiple sets & replacing multiple parts & checking everything 20x.

The bottom line is, those rotors are very susceptible to unlocking thickness variation or warped rotors secondary to water getting in the holes & corrosion forming around them.
