The only better chain is made by Iwis, in Germany. Excellent chain.

I used the FEBI chain and it's been solid and a good value compared to the overpriced vag chain. No problems on my A5 for thousands of miles.

2.5 motors can go 600k on original chains.

2014 F30 with N26 engine. 157K miles on original timing chain and BMW tech just inspected chain and guide after removing valve cover and said both are good.

My 2014 Passat with the 1.8T and automatic is at 175k. Timing chain is making noise so yeah that\u2019s due.

main repairs i did were timing chain & just had to replace both fuel pumps today…. As long as you get routine maintenance & drive it good it will last

I had my timing chains changed at audi dealership(A5, 2014, 2.0t) I had only 90000 miles, so it was preventative maintenance. After I changed the chains - sound of the engine changed - I started to hear something weird inside. Took it back and dealer said: it’s normal, maybe you have problem with belt or pulley.

The timing chain is a common fail point in these engines as it can stretch over time and destroy the engine.

I had a 2012 fabia with the same engine and it started rattling at 82k so I got it swapped. VW claim it’s a lifetime part, which I guess since the engine is scrap if it goes bang isn’t wrong.

I put a water pump and timing chain on a year ago. Once I got in, I saw that it needed a timing chain too. Ford wasn't open on Sunday so I bought a Cloyes brand chain from OReilly. One year later, to the day, I replaced it again due to a P0016 code.
