I'm quite happy with the Bosch Smart Home Thermostat II. It has no bells and whistles in terms of AI or other bullshit but works really well with the integration.

I used one of the MotoRad safety thermostat's that have a 1/16" hole already in them, in my 84. So.. No, I don't think you'll have any problems adding a hole.
It’s the thermostat 99.9% in this senecio. They are on back order from Jeep and the aftermarket ones are horrible.
The replacement thermostat came from BMW. No problems this time.
Just make sure you buy a genuine Nissan thermostat. I don't know what it is about these cars, but they do NOT like aftermarket thermostats. Just spend the extra ten bucks on a Nissan part.
Fomoco is ford.. it's oem 10 years is a good run. Yes they fail and get stuck closed, I've had the fail and the spring grenades the housing also.
The Mahle thermostat arrived today along with all the other bits I think I need to put the car back together. The problem is that the new one doesn't quite match the old one.
I replaced the t-stat with a genuine part and again no luck.
I had the same problem when I put in the all aluminum graf waterpump. It had a bad thermostat right from the factory, I replaced the thermostat after trying all sorts of coolant bleeding, temp logging, etc. The oem thermostat solved the problem.
I literally had my cummins thermostat fail and overheat like 6 months ago on a long trip. Popped the housing off. Pulled the core. And drove home without issue.
