Get good parts: original ride quality, not economy, and probably KYB or Gabriel (Monroe has long been a decent brand, but people tend to question their quality these days, especially here on Reddit).
Owner reviews for strut assembly
KYB's are usually a better product and def what I would use between the 2 on my cars.
I installed B6 struts on all four corners, top mounts, end links, and new bump stops. The suspension arms were in good shape and didn't actually need to be replaced. My car has been garage-kept and has 47k miles on it, which might explain why the rubber was in decent shape. My bump stops looked much like yours, and when I took out the front struts, I could compress them with my hands. I was basically riding on the front springs with no dampening. With the new struts, the ride is much better, and the car feels excellent over bumps. The B6 struts aren't super stiff (about 20% stiffer than B4), and the ride is similar to a factory with OEM springs.
Difference with the new b4s was night and day vs the 20 year old ones.
Struts are Koni yellows made in Holland. I am confident they are higher quality than most anything else off the shelf.
Put RC m1s in the front (a tier below yours) and it rides like any other 20 year old truck (fine in my opinion). I have no problem off roading either. Have kept up or surpassed many more expensive builds on trails.
I’m using bilstein b6 with vogtland lowering springs… still somewhat harsh on my local shitty roads. Feels amazing on smooth roads though. I might consider swapping to b4 when my struts wear out because the comfort is really nice.
The new struts are KYBs and the old struts looked factory. The car just looks to be sitting higher now with the new struts in?
There stiff i got them on my 2016 accord i replaced the 19in wheels with 17s and it kinda helped
The Monroe quick struts made my Lexus ES300 a low rider so I exchanged them for FCS.
