Owner reviews for shock absorbers

Manufacturers
KYB Shock absorbers

KYB makes good shocks, but I’m wary of most “quick struts” because almost all of them use the cheapest upper mounts and bearings possible.

Pros: good shocks
Cons: cheap upper mounts

Bilstein Shock absorbers

Get factory msport springs and Bilstein B6s and roll on. The springs will give the car a slightly more aggressive look than base E91 hight while still giving each corner plenty of travel. The B6s will give you a tight, yet smooth ride.

Pros: tight, smooth ride

At an absolute minimum, Sachs shocks are worth the money, they're perhaps the one thing that has the biggest impact on ride quality. Being a more complex part than control arms and such, a cheap brand isn't going to have anywhere near the same ride quality.

Pros: biggest impact on ride
Cons: cheap brand bad quality
Vehicle: BMW
