I have B4 on my 1994 convertible and am happy with them. they ride like stock on turbo convertibles, maybe a bit better.
Owner reviews for shock absorbers
If you intend to use this car, buy new springs and new Bilstein B4 shocks
I changed everything in my suspension, including new shocks and front springs. Compared to what it was it was a huge improvement. I used Sachs shocks (m sport).
I had my misgivings when I installed them, but a decade later my eibach pro lowering kit shocks / struts (black) have proven to be excellent.
I have KYB AGX in the front and then just Bilsteins in the rear with Steeda lowering springs. I got a crazy discount on the KYBs so that’s why I went with them lol. Feels great though
I got full bilstein b8, vogtland lowering springs and tubular rear Control arms. All bushings new ofc. Handles like a beast in the mountains with some semi slicks.
It has Old Man Emu Shock absorbers on it already (no idea which or hold old as they came with the car)
A little build up in a Bilstein is normal.
In my experience ever since Tenneco bought Monroe they have been trash. Back when I worked for Subaru the OE and KYB replacements regularly made it 100K, Monroe’s would give up in 40-50k.
Monroe shocks on pick-up truck, not abused, only lasted two years. KYB was major improvement.
