Mahle. Best pleat design I’ve seen and according to Volvo, their primary reason they selected Mahle over MANN or Hengst.
Owner reviews for oil filter
I have recently switched back from a K&N to a Mobile 1 oil filter. It seems to be better no ticking noise.
I would recommend a MANN oil filter. They build the ones VW sells you over the counter.
my last couple oil changes used Fram filters for their superior double layered synth media filtration.
I use factory filters and 0w40 Castrol (German one) when it’s on sale for $4.99 a qt. I too have 100k on my 2015 gsw 5MT and runs great I been using that oil since new.
I believe over time, the deposits will be less. The bottom of the oil pan is the lowest point of the engine. The second point is the drain plug. Between these two points the oil/residue/sludge/etc never gets removed. As many oil pans that I've seen removed, there is always a fine layer of 'stuff'.
installed a Mann filter. torqued the filter housing and noted the paint dot on the filter was tightened to the same location as before i started.
Are you using a cheap generic/fram filter? If so throw it away. Oil change shops use a generic cheapie crapazoidal filter, and uses 10w30 for your car.
I bought a Mann brand filter for less than 3 bucks on sale! In my case though the filter didn't help even though the old one was way dirty.
