Amsoil engine oil
Owner reviews for engine oil
Frankly, we ran 0W20 for the first 175k miles in our 2017 RAV4. I changed to 5W30 because my Turbocharged Mazda also calls for 5W30.
Also, I have upgraded to Amsoil Synthetic Engine Oil which further helps for maintaining DPF health as it reduces ash that can accumulate and plug the filter.
The Motul would be my choice. With your temperatures its the best optione between them.
10w60 is the only oil you should put in these. If nothing else, you can usually find it at BMW automobile dealerships as that is what they put in the M3/4 series (or at least used to). Not cheap, but a lot less expensive than engine rebuilds.
Always have done 10k on my ‘22 RAV4 hybrid, which equates to every five or six months (did the same on my ‘16 RAV4 hybrid as well), and do the same on my ‘12 Prius C I’ve had for 11 years now. No issues.
Mobil 1 0W-20 wix filter 7500mile intervals. Due for 30k change right now. Honestly the oil I\u2019ve drained out so far still looks really good but I buy my Mobil at Costco so still relatively cheap to change.
Valvoline Restore & Protect is reportedly great.
I ran 10W-50 and 10W-60 for a few years in an old and beaten up Honda in the hope of reduce oil consumption to avoid having to open the engine. Long story short: it's not harmful, it's an expensive gimmick, the only real-life effect is fuel consumption will slightly worsen and that Honda had occasional issues with VTEC (a well known issue in those engines when running high viscosity oils).
Had a Q5 and it was a money pit. Oil Consumption got so bad I was putting in a quart every 400 miles.
