The ZF is an amazing automatic one of the best in the industry but it’s to smooth its boring imo. The AT is still a blast I just wanted a more engaging raw experience that’s really all. I do miss the comfort sometimes and god damn the gas mileage ????

Pros: amazing, one of best, still a blast, good comfort, good gas mileage
Cons: too smooth, boring

The gearbox is amazing when pushing.

At a crawl and slower paces, it can be slightly jumpy and "kangarooish" as I've heard some people describe the BMW gearbox (ZF)

Besides that, it's spectacular

Pros: amazing when pushing, spectacular
Cons: jumpy at slow paces, kangarooish
Vehicle: Toyota Supra

The ZF8 is not bad at all. IMO it's probably one of the best automatics you can have for a sports car. No complexity of a dual clutch, smooth shifting in all cases, fast enough shift speed in sport mode, and proven reliability.

Pros: one of best automatics, smooth shifting, fast shift speed, proven reliability
Vehicle: Toyota Supra

The ZF8 pairs better than the manual. It’s one of the best transmissions ever made and was what Toyota tuned the supras engine around originally.

Pros: pairs better than manual, one of best ever made
Vehicle: Toyota Supra

ZF Steering rack

I replaced the steering rack on the car because the original rack was leaking. The replacement rack was an OEM from a junkyard. The old rack was a TRW and the new one is a ZF. The steering is heavier overall than with the old rack. My friend says it's definitely harder right than left.

Cons: heavier steering, harder right turn
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 206000 km

ZF Alternator

Ohh boy, we had a brand new range Rover that needed an entire transmission because... That's where the alternator is. It's not separate. It's only serviced with the transmission.

Cons: transmission needed, not separate
Vehicle: Land Rover Range Rover
