OEM Toyota Brake pads

I bought my 2016 Prius used with 32k miles on it back in 2019. It now has 157k miles and the maintenance has been a breeze. Just standard oil changes every 5k, 1 transmission fluid change, two sets of tires and I don’t even think I have replaced the brakes yet ..no seriously I don’t think I have yet.

Pros: maintenance has been a breeze
Mileage: 252600 km

OEM Toyota Battery

I have a 2016 Gen 4 that my partner commutes about 100 miles round trip in. Aside from its strange looks it's a great car. Zero repairs so far at more than 220K miles. No rattles or clunks. Every single electric button and switch still works.

Pros: Zero repairs, great car
Cons: strange looks
Mileage: 354000 km

I bought a 2008 toyota yaris for $5.5k on fb marketplace. Had a prepurchase inspection.

I love that car for the exact reasons you mentioned. It’s been with me everywhere ive gone, is super cheap on gas, and just requires oil changes every 8000 km.

Pros: super cheap on gas
Mileage: 8000 km

OEM Toyota Alternator

My last OEM Toyota alternator made it to 250K miles. My future non-Toyota ones failed because they were cheap remanufactured ones and later I found a failing harmonic balancer that was putting extra pressure on bearings of the alternator

Pros: long lifespan (OEM Toyota)
Cons: failed (non-Toyota remanufactured)
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 250000 km

Rating 2.0

I think this is what has happened to a 91 Soarer I rescued from a field. Sounded WEIRD trying to start. Went to check plug leads and thats where I saw the chewed up and snapped timing belt.

Pros: chewed up timing belt
Cons: snapped timing belt
Vehicle: Toyota Soarer

OEM Toyota Brake pads
DJSugarSnatch
 • Braking:
 • Noise:
Rating 1.0

Bought a 2012 Toyota Sequoia from Heritage Motors on Shore Drive with a fresh inspection on it, So I personally figured it'd be solid, as Sequoia's are known to be pretty dependable. Not only was it a lemon/some huge issues, but the brakes were slapped together with bubble gum and hopes and prayers. The brake pad on the passenger side was installed backwards, which I was shocked it didn't make noise on the test drive

Cons: brake pad installed backwards
