I guess that can be true, though my 2018 Model 3 (one of the early ones) has 150,000 miles and had 1 minor issue (bushings on lower control arms) that cost about $200 to replace, and a $70 underbody shield that needed replaced. That's it, which compared to all my gas cars of the past is basically no maintenance or repairs.
the only repair (covered under warranty) for the teslas has been a cracked control arm. Software has been pretty flawless. Drive train has been amazing. No battery issues (not even 12v for me). Everything just works over more total kms than i put on my jeeps.
my tesla.. never have had any issues and ive had it for 3 years. I replaced the tires once.. thats it
Control arms will need replacing in tesla vehicles, and since the car will be past warranty no reason not to go with third party parts that are thick enough for the vehicle's mass.
For tesla folks - Older Teslas are just kinda like that with their headlights. I used to have a 2019 Model 3 and I got high-beam-notified _constantly_. They fixed it in 2021.
I needed new tires *ridiculously* fast, as the OEM set's treads wore out at an absurd rate. I honestly think I had a bad set, because even the tire guys who replaced them were shocked at how bad, and *inconsistent*, the wear was on 1-year-old tires. I got a 40% discount on them due to the warranty, but they were still $700.
Everything else has been like the AC stopped working so they cleaned the radiator, replaced the compressor on a different occasion, engine wiring harness was corroded in one spot, we needed a new charge port because the circuit got struck by lightning while it was charging, we had some electrical components that were fried in that incident replaced at a later point, etc.
My only issue is I see my battery range moving down significantly. I'm currently doing calculations to see if the battery will be up for warranty replacement.
Wipers AUTO has always been trash. Because it uses the camera it's often very aggressive (wiping when there is hardly any need) or does not wipe when the windshield gradually fills with rain and you wonder how it sees the other vehicles in front at all.
