The metal casing that surrounds the wire is actually the ground. Subaru unfortunately does not sell or replacement part for this. The easiest and complete fix is to go to the junkyard find one with that wire complete pull it out from the base and replace it.

I’ve driven my FXT in temps down to 0°F, and it always comes up to operating temperature.
Don’t run the heat until coolant hits about 150-160°. The heater operates by running air over the heater core, which is filled with hot coolant.
Apparently something about plastic parts which is wild for a thermostat anyways, also the cvts aren't a problem really just service and drain fill your fluid 30k miles.
Since passing the 200,000 mark, I've replaced all of the brake calipers because the originals looked really crusty at this point and a couple of them had seizing issues.
I have an SJ and have extensively looked into the options. I’m going to get another set of Subaru OE. They are inexpensive, last 100-150tkm and the ride is not perfect but well balanced imo.
I got quoted 600 for both in the front for my crosstrek.
Just got a rock chip on my 2025 Ascent with only 2400 miles. We weren't anywhere close to the car in front of us so we don't even understand how it happened. On the edge of the black area around all the camera stuff. Heading to get it repaired now so it hopefully doesn't spread. Wish us luck.
I unfortunately was one of those people who got a bad one.. (2006)
The car of in the repair shop twice a week for misfire codes, doors frozen to the rubber door frame, no cruise control, clutch fluid frozen solid, numerous wheel bearing failure, head-gasket failure, should have bought a Honda accord regret..
Even the core reason people buy the car — the engaging manual experience — has been more miss than hit.… it’s not great.
WRX automatics really don't give the experience is my belief.
