Want a real out there suggestion. The 2017 Chevy Bolt EV. Kind of a rare car. But my dad had one and it was an absolute blast. 200 hp and 266 ft/lb torque that was *instantly* available made the car way faster than you would have ever guessed. Once you ditched the terrible economy tires on it, it handled incredibly well because all the weight was way down low. It was also really well balanced because, while front wheel drive, most of the weight was in the middle - so it didn't really act like a typical front wheel drive car.

Only thing I have had to fix on it was the water pump. It started leaking at 181k miles.

2020+ V6 have 10 speeds which are absolutely amazing.

The A10 is FANTASTIC and I have had zero issues on mine, on top of it just being an amazing transmission.

Chevy Volt. It was a true gateway drug to the world of EVs and showed me that I can do most of my driving solely on battery so I didn't need to worry about range anxiety.

Chevy EVs require a coolant change at some point, it's not cheap although it is less than some other repairs.

My bolt needs the motor/transmission coolant replaced. Every 150k miles...

getting a used A8 is playing Russian roulette with getting the shudder which can range from a $300 transmission flush to replacing the TC

Chevrolet. One of the issues the car had was when it would rain. The brakes wouldn't always work.

Chevy Bolt. Then it was recalled for the battery fire issue.
