OEM Chevrolet Catalytic converter

My daughter has a 2017, she loves it. 150+K miles... NOTHING major ever with it. Recently, she's been getting a catalytic converter code. Keep up on maintenance it should be good.

Pros: nothing major ever
Cons: catalytic converter code

OEM Chevrolet Engine oil

My corvette was supposed to run 5w-30 but they changed it to 0w-40 at some time. I have that in bulk at work so it was a good change. My Prius is supposed to run only 0w-20 but if you read a non US owners manual you can run up to 10w-40 if it\u2019s hot and you\u2019re running the car hard. We go on trips out into the desert frequently where we\u2019ll be pushing 80mph for hours in 100+ degree heat so it\u2019s been getting 0w-30.

Pros: good change

OEM Chevrolet Tires

Bolts tend to eat through tires faster than my other cars, but that may be because it's fun to drive, so I accelerate and corner a little faster than I do in other cars. But this is a complaint that I hear from a lot of other EV drivers too.

Pros: fun to drive
Cons: eats through tires faster

OEM Chevrolet Tires

Having gone from a WRX to a Chevy bolt, it is a very different experience. The WRX was a thousand times more fun. The turbo constantly begged you to go faster. It cornered flat and came with super sticky tires so you could go around a corner at a crazy speed. The bolt has solid straight line acceleration, but low rolling resistance tires make it much less fun, and slower in a lap around a track.

Pros: solid straight line acceleration
Cons: less fun, slower

OEM Chevrolet Heater core

Rating 2.0

I did a heater core once. Just once.... 87 Z28. NEVER AGAIN! lol Call a pro. It is not a difficult job, but if you even get access to the core without removing the dash, it is super hard tight under there. I would however poke around and see where it is.

Pros: can be done
Cons: never again, difficult access
Vehicle: Chevrolet Camaro

OEM Chevrolet Brake discs

The shop changed the discs and pads. Brakes seemed totally unchanged and the issue occurred again almost immediately. Someone suggested they didn\u2019t flush the lines properly. Worked as expected 90% of the time, but had several instances where they seemed like I pushed the pedal all the way through with little reaction.

Pros: worked as expected 90%
Cons: little reaction, unchanged brakes
Vehicle: Chevrolet Tahoe
Mileage: 80000 km
