OEM Mazda Battery

2014 Mazda 3 with 322,000 kms, it's doing fine. I'm still on original engine, transmission and starter. I use it almost daily in traffic. The only problem is that the battery is slightly more costly than a standard one, which offsets the miniscule fuel savings you're getting from the system

Pros: original engine, transmission, starter
Cons: battery is slightly more costly
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 322000 km

OEM Mazda Spark plug

I’ve had my cx5 since August of 23. Put 48k on it since owning it, bought used at 44k it’s been a dream come true. cx5 just takes regular maintenance like oil changes spark plugs and brakes..and another plus it’s a very sharp looking vehicle inside an out.

Pros: sharp looking vehicle
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 77249 km

OEM Mazda Windshield

Rating 3.0

Example: windshields have to be lighter, so they are thinner. Any little rock will destroy one of our Mazdas windshield.

Cons: thinner, easily destroyed

OEM Mazda Drive belt

  • Visible wear:
Rating 3.0

Dealerships love to say drive belts are worn if they see any cracking. Cracking is normal and does not automatically require a replacement. My dealership said to replace at 60k miles and I didn't replace until 80k.

Pros: cracking is normal
Cons: drive belts are worn
Vehicle: Mazda

OEM Mazda Alternator

Rating 2.0

My 2017 Mazda 3 touring felt like it was cursed. I had the direct high pressure fuel pump injector go out like 1.5 years after purchase. About 2k for just that repair. Thought that was the end of it until the following year where there was a persistent evap problem that nobody could find, despite clearing the code it wouldn’t pass smog. One smoke test and several hundred dollars in appointments later they found the smallest leak from one of the hoses, replaced it and passed smog. Then the check engine light saga started, at first we thought it was the battery/alrernator until after replacing both it kept happening. Turns out that was the start of my catalytic going out(76k miles exactly). Idk if it’s Stockholm syndrome but i did trade it in for a new Mazda. Hoping the curse has been lifted.

Pros: passed smog after repair
Cons: fuel pump injector failure, evap problem, check engine light, catalytic converter failure
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 76000 km

OEM Mazda Engine radiator

  • Sweet smell:
Rating 2.0

No... and if it has all the undercover you'll never see a spot on the floor... i had to take mine in for a radiator under 20k miles (24 model)... check for a sweet smell after a decent commute or pop the hood and look around for dry crusty white ish splatter... coolant kind of looks like battery corrosion when it dries

Pros: check for sweet smell
Cons: radiator failed under 20k
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 32186 km

OEM Mazda Steering rack

Had mine replaced, took about a week. Loaded up the miles on an even nicer loaner, so I wasn’t too bothered…other than the unsafe feeling around corners at speed.

Cons: unsafe feeling around corners
