I have the same ones on mine. they seem to do the job just fine. a bit stiffer than the oil filled sachs
bought mine on autohausaz 179513031 KYB Shock Absorber; Rear; Gas-A-Just they work great. Technically the best? No probally not the best in the world. but they are OEM equivalent.
I put KYB Excel-G on my 7th gen civic, they seem to ride fine, but for some reason the rear of the car sits an inch or two higher than the original stock suspension.
I put the Excel-G's on my girlfriend's Trailblazer last year. They're better than the worn-out OEM suspension, and they were really cheap.
I have installed KYB Excel-G shocks on my 1998 Subaru Legacy GT and 2002 Lexus LS430. Both cars had worn out shocks and the new ones were an improvement.
In all seriousness, in my experience KYB shocks and struts are merely adequate. This is subjective, but they've always felt fairly harsh to me, in numerous different cars.
I've always like the GR2 for a regular street car. Sure, Bilsteins are objectively better, but there's nothing wrong with Excel-Gs, nee GR2.
I had GR-2s on an old Mk3 Golf. They were fine.
I always liked the Monte Carlo SS. While not a great car stock. It can be made into a fun car over time with out to big a hit at any one point. Poly graphite bushishings, Springs, kyb gas adjust or better shocks, fast ratio box, and add in some sway bars. You fixed the suspension issues that are most glaring with out extensive testing or work. The brakes you can add better calipers for decent grip, and finish it off with rotors/pads.
I'll be utilizing KYB AGX 8-way dampening adjustable shocks.
