after 70k be worried about your head gasket failing. Idk if Honda ever improved the head studs or torqued them tighter but earlier models up to 2023 with more than 70k miles are likely to have head gasket issues resulting in misfiring.
My 2018 LX head gaskets blew at 187k. Well maintained. I got rid of her.
Had my Honda serviced and fixed through Honda at 44k miles for head gasket and fuel injectors spark plugs and coils
89k miles and she started bucking limp mode flashing check engine I smelled burning coolant and had white smoke from my exhaust not to mention this car is stock and I maintenance it properly through Honda never missed a oil change ect car is driven like a baby.
Driving this morning to the shop was horrendous car kept bucking having misfires wouldn’t go past 38 mph coolant resovoir was halfway but radiator was empty that’s even with me checking it religiously shop called back to confirm they performed a scope and confirmed another head gasket leak of coolant into the heads.
It's the head gasket. I replaced the entire cooling system over the course of 2 years. And finally but the bullet to do the had gasket. I was showing no signs of white smoke . And had all of the issues you are having. The mirror so good it will keep running with it , won't even fill the plugs. But I promise you it's the head gasket. You you will be so happy after replacing it.
I dumped way too much money into keeping it running and only got about 6000 miles out of it before the headgasket blew and after getting that fixed It went around 600 more miles before it spun a bearing and blew a hole out the side of the block
I had this with my 02 Civic lx. Did compression test and it came up fine. Mechanic checked it and found it was the head gasket. Replaced it all with a gasket kit, new water pump and full tune up. Runs like a champs now, going on 4 months no problems.
I had a 2004 Civic 6 years ago and it kept driving with a blown head gasket I didn’t know about.
Are you sure it was the head gasket and not like the valve cover gasket? An oil leak from the head gasket is possible but really unusual. When a head gasket blows usually you start burning coolant, not leaking oil. Something in this story doesn’t quite make sense to me.
my wife's 2017 CR-V blew a head gasket at 133k, despite doing all the maintenance items when they were required., including yep.. regular oil changes when required. Honda dealer straight up lied and told me it was because I didn't change the oil, such BS. Took the car to another place, asked them to confirm this.. go figure, it was not true. I saw the engine myself. We just got the damn thing back after two months of tracking down a used engine, they are hard to find. That tells me this happens often. We ended up replacing the engine, but the turbocharger it came with was cracked so another had to shell out another 1k or something. All in all it was 8k. The frickin car will be paid off in January, we were so close. Anyways.. Come to find out there are class-action lawsuits in Canada over the 1.5 engine, I'm sure there will be one in the US as well after researching it. tons of issues. Lots of other manufacturer's have had issues with these little engines with high compression.
head gasket issues I had with the 90 and 94 Civics
