I went with gpd and the upgraded design this past summer and it fit as intended and works. I think it’s one of those “time will tell” situations.

I put a GPD in a ford escape last year, has held up so far...
I put a GPD AC compressor from Rock Auto in my Civic a couple years ago and it's still going strong. You will need to buy or borrow a vacuum pump and a AC manifold to evacuate the air and then fill the system afterwards.
I got the GPD one for a 1999 Buick century and it has held up well. Make sure you follow the recommendation for the compressor oil that the make calls for. The compressor I got shipped with the wrong PAG in it. Wasn't a huge deal to drain and refill, just a little messy.
Have had decent luck with gpd through one of our local vendors. As a rule of thumb I always try to go new on a/c compressors (have had absolute shit luck with remanufactured with all brands, like2 out of 3 leaking within 12 months)
I've owned a win 1 , 2, 3 and the first win max.
the only major issue i've had is the battery bloated on my win 1, which was apparently super common.
Without even charging the system with R134 refrigerant, the "new" compressor begain making metallic "scraping" sound right out of the box, as soon as I started it up ... probably the clutch and/or bearing is defective. I've been driving it for the last 2 weeks without using the AC and with no R134 in it, and sadly, the noise is still there. In fact, it's getting worse!
So, we picked out a GPD brand compressor from CarID.com, it came in, and he replaced it. I picked the car up, and the AC was working great, but I noticed that when the AC is on, the system makes a very loud noise. It's hard to describe, kind of like a loud rumbling / low screeching. It's pretty loud, and it ramps up with engine RPMs, so I can hear it over the engine even at freeway speeds. My mechanic basically told me that compressors that don't cost a lot make noise. I tried to tell him that it gets louder when I drive faster, but he basically dismissed me, saying that it's normal for cheap air compressors to be this loud. I've been looking over plenty of forum posts from people who have used GPD compressors and never complained about the noise, and though I trust my mechanic, I'm feeling a bit uncertain about this. He advised me to just live with the noise as long as the AC still works, but honestly the noise is so loud I'm not sure I can just 'live with it.'
