OEM FORD Alternator
osage15
  • Lights:
Rating 5.0

The alternator I have on my 3.0 Ford Ranger does over 130 at idle and 300 at 2,000 engine RPM. It's the same size as factory, just custom built for $550 for the truck since I use it for car audio competition.

Pros: high output at idle
Cons: custom built, expensive
Vehicle: Ford Ranger

OEM FORD Ball joint

I've got a 5.0 Explorer and it's been very reliable. I've replaced some wear items ( ball joints, hubs, tie rod ends, brakes) but parts are pretty cheap and it's easy to work on and they can be found fairly cheap.

Pros: parts are pretty cheap, easy to work on
Vehicle: Ford Explorer

OEM FORD Brake pads

In terms of driving impressions, well...it feels heavy and clumsy around town. The steering is very heavy...forget twirling the wheel with a finger. The shifter is mounted low and away. It takes effort to shift, and it's very solid and mechanical (rod shifter). The clutch is progressive but the friction point is not very obvious. Ride is quite good, and push through the clumsy feeling and she can dance. Brakes are hysterically soft, typical for a SHO.

Pros: Ride is quite good
Cons: brakes hysterically soft
Vehicle: Ford Taurus

OEM FORD Alternator

Just sold mine to a friend... owned this one for 5 years, put 40+ thousand miles on it, and it needed nothing except for an alternator, and battery. It was a great car for me. Never let me down, drove, and sounded great...

Pros: drove and sounded great
Cons: needed alternator, battery
Vehicle: Ford Contour
Mileage: 64373 km

OEM FORD Engine mount
IJM
  • Vibration:
Rating 1.0

I've now broken two factory engine mounts on the wife's Mazda 3 2.3. Both of these were on the transmission side (driver's side). They're a notoriously crappy part (thanks Ford)

Cons: crappy part
Vehicle: Mazda 3

OEM FORD Alternator
Slipstream
  • Warning light:
Rating 2.0

I had a Cougar (same underpinnings) and mine went through alternators like candy. I'm sure a better-designed aftermarket version would probably take care of it though.

Pros: better sounding V6s
Cons: alternators like candy
Vehicle: Ford Cougar

OEM FORD Tires

  • Ride comfort:
Rating 2.0

The last vehicle I had it happen to was on my 2002 Ford Sport Trac. The tires on my Sport Trac only had 24,000 miles on them when they began cupping. I could not stand the noise from these tires, which I eventually put on the rear so that at least I couldn't feel it in my steering.

Cons: noise from these tires
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 24000 km

OEM FORD Spark plug

econolines are ok except for one huge cluster****. On the late 90s through 02 i think they built them with too few threads on the heads for the spark plugs. Consequently spark plugs routinely blow out.

Cons: spark plugs blow out
Vehicle: Ford Econoline
Mileage: 100000 km
