OEM FORD Fuel injector
lofitroupadour
  • Acceleration:
Rating 5.0

when doing research I noticed the lb/hr rates for injectors vary somewhat widely across the whale model years. Bought OEM injectors and behavior went away. the injectors that came out were the wrong lb/hr (you can differentiate by colored tabs on injectors there are several forum posts on injector identification). ECM could adjust but it didn't like it. Would intermittently but not consistently throw bank 1 and 2 lean codes.

Pros: behavior went away
Cons: wrong lb/hr, lean codes

OEM FORD Fuel filter
HatechaBro
  • Starting:
Rating 4.0

I used to make it and run it in my 7.3l powerstroke trucks for almost 10 years. I changed the fuel filter in my 7.3 trucks every second oil change, so every 10,000 kilometres. Little puff of smoke on startup, slight haze when stomping on it, otherwise not noticeable compared to regular diesel.

Pros: not noticeable compared diesel
Cons: puff of smoke on startup
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 10000 km

OEM FORD Engine oil

On a side note, if anyone really wants to see what their oil change interval should be, just get an actual oil sample analysis done. Per the lab reports, I can get 8k miles on quality synthetics and still have a good safe margin for oil life.

Pros: good safe margin
Mileage: 12875 km

OEM FORD Windshield

I had the same issue with the oem windshield on my wife's 2014 Ford Escape. From the drivers side the blurr was so bad it made my head hurt.

Pros: blurr was so bad
Cons: made my head hurt

OEM FORD Hub bearing

Everything was original and the hub bearings were bad for a long time and generated enough heat to fuse everything solid. I bought it that way. Wound up pulling the knuckles and driving a steel wedge between the knuckle and rotor. Took everything I had.

Cons: bearings failed, fused solid

OEM FORD Timing chain

on the Ford 4.6 around 175k you need to do an engine out service to fix timing chains because a nimrod at Ford put them against the damn fire wall.

Cons: engine out service needed, poor placement
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 281635 km

  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 1.0

My Outer Banks I’ve had for 1 year as of this week. I replaced my windshield after 1 month for a crack and then two days later got another. I waited till I had 15 chips and cracks in it before replacing it again. Within a month had two more chips, the windshield is definitely a big problem

Cons: prone to chips, cracks easily
Vehicle: Ford Bronco
