Reviews of Castrol engine oil

I only had two oil changes and stuck with the OEM Castrol 5w40 :thumbup:

Castro 10- 60 Audi uses it in R8 GT which is NA and not subject to extra thermal loaf of TC. Live in South Florida so cold starts not an issue and Sebring in August is HOT. Also run 50 % VP 103 in summer to cool things a bit and reduce prevent timing loss.

I was using the OEM Castrol 5w40 and recently switched to Castrol European Formula 0w40. I found that I had the oil level drop a bit (oil burn perhaps) with the latter. For the current change I went back to OE Castrol and will see if things go back to no level drop.

I run the OE Castrol because I still have CPO warranty for another year.

Performed the oil and filter change this morning along with a good inspection of the top and bottom of the motor. Everything looked great, nice and clean.

Castrol is notorious for getting dirty very fast (detergents is the popular explanation). Why I like Mobil 1 a lot, doesn't discolor nearly as fast and still a very good synthetic oil.

Castrol Magnatec 5w-30. Love me some Castrol.

Castrol 0W30 (a.k.a. German Castrol :thumbup seemed to shear thin very little over a similar interval, which is why I preferred it.

One of the best oils for your '08 FSI engine... I have used 0-30 Castrol GC, before this one came available. 0-40 Castrol is 100% german Castrol... I have been using it for long time 70K miles 0 issues with engine.....

If you want to do 5k oil changes, best to switch back to Castrol GTX or any cheapo oil as you'll have no significant advantage using synthetic for short periods of time.
