12 Galant 2.4 always running Castrol edge 5w20 and oil filter change every 5k miles for like 60k miles now has 126k. Cars have never shut off or left me stranded or left any signs of hesitation.
Generally, brand matters a lot. Amsoil, Mobil 1, and Castrol are all great.
I run Castrol in my older cars and Mobil 1 in newer cars that I care more about.
I usually change the oil every 7500 miles and tend to use Castrol synthetic 0-40.
I just use German made Castrol Edge 0w40 (502 certified) oil. Ive used this oil since the car had its first oil change and it does not burn a drop and car runs great, i now have 59k miles and shes drives new as ever.
Former BMW dealer employees have confirmed that the overpriced BMW oil is literally castrol edge.
I use 5W40, Castrol Edge, has the 502/505 certification, if it doesn't don's use it. You can use the 0W40 European Formula as found at Walmart; is also 502 certified.. This is a good all-year 'round oil.
Castrol EDGE 5w-40 is what I use.
Did another oil change today, and not a lot of consumption, still pulled 6.5 quarts out of the engine. Been using the Castrol Edge 5W40, and on the back has the 501, 502 and 505 certification.
I use Castrol syn in our VW because they call for Castrol syn. The only thing I've found is that our VW which called for Castrol Syn 0w20 always sounded clattery - until I switched to 5w30. I guess we are suffering a little MPG at the cost of a quiet engine but I won't use the 0w20 again.
I will never use castrol again, stupid dark bottle is annoying and makes it hard to tell how much is left
